AthenaCat died tonight in my arms. She took a bad turn around 10:30pm and we knew it was time. We were actually at the Emergency Vet to have her put to sleep when she settled in and breathed her last breath. She was my constant friend and sidekick, along with the late ZeusCat, for the last 12 years. I will miss her greatly, but I am heartened that she is no longer suffering.

But that's OK. It was good to see Shady and Connie Lynne and the Austin Villains. I'm very glad to see that the GCI concept is taking off in Texas. Next I think the Chicago crew needs to step up.

Next up is AFI Dallas for three weeks. Although I am not wild on being gone for three weeks I am happy to be working a gig I know I am pretty good at.

The puppy is ridiculous, as photo evidence proves:

I just watched the HBO documentary "Section 60" about the section of Arlington Cemetery dedicated to those in service who died in Iraq and Afghanistan. I would recommend it as long as you are OK with a VERY depressing film. As I watched it I was struck by something that many conservatives seem to be forgetting these days, especially John McCain and Sarah Palin. These graves contain whites, blacks, hispanics and asians. There is no segregation in a military cemetery, and it should be noted they all died for ONE country.

I've been watching the hate spew from the audiences in McCain/Palin rallies, and it reminds me that we have a long way to go before the race issue in this country is resolved, but I am still hopeful it will be one day. I am also aware that should Senator Obama win, we will likely see at least one assassination attempt before the end of his first term given the way McCain and Palin have stirred up the ultra right wing nuts. But I am also reminded of the saying "If They Are Shooting At You, You Must Be Doing Something Right".

So, before World War II, WWI was always called "The Great War" until WWII and then the number system went to work.

What will we call The Great Depression after this new one starts?

PBS is running an online poll asking if Sarah Palin is qualified to be VP. The GOP has launched a campaign to flood the poll and then milk the results...FUCK THAT, here's the link, go and let 'em know Palin is NOT qualified to be this countries second in command.

'stina got me one for my birthday, and I'm learning my five first chords right now. At what point does it stop hurting so much? I'm OK with a little pain, but for the first two days it felt like I was driving nails into the balls of my fingertips, and now it's gone to a kinda numb feeling. Am I on the right track? I know all about the callus', and I'll be patient for 'em. Just curious...

At Christina's parents house using their computer. It's frustrating that we could have power save for the giant tree that has knocked out the 21,000 volt line that is responsible for 1500 homes being dark right now and seeing no effort to remove said tree. Of course, the rich bitches in River Oaks have fucking cranes clearing their yards. True, that area took a big hit, but they can afford to go stay in a hotel or something for awhile. I'm tired of using our freezer as a glorified Coleman cooler.

Yesterday we spent the day clearing our backyard and I gotta say we did a damn good job. I like the fact that our neighborhood has people doing the work themselves as opposed to the bitches in the rich neighborhoods finding every illegal they can to do the work for them. Their hypocrisy will be complete in November when they all vote for McCain in order to try to keep their taxes down. I guess I'm venting here a bit, bear with me.

All in all it could have been much worse. The storm really blew in full force after midnight Friday and went all the way until mid morning Saturday. Believe it or not I slept through a good chunk of it. Christina did not though. Saturday we went out and surveyed the destruction. Lots of trees down and/or involuntarily pruned, but very little in the way of big destruction. Galveston is apparently been all but destroyed though. You will never see me live on the beach.

Anyway, we've got some great pics we will post as soon as we can. I will say that it's been fascinating to read what my friends in other states are up to and how different their reality to ours is right now.
